Preparation

  1. Add olive oil to a pot or deep skillet. Add the garlic to the cold oil. Turn heat to medium and allow the oil and garlic to warm together.

  2. Once the garlic is sizzling, stir in Italian seasoning and tomato paste. Cook for 20 seconds. Add the tomato sauce and mix well.

  3. Stir in the SpaghettiOs and water. Add a pinch of salt (avoid over-salting if using salty cheese).

  4. If available, add a Parmesan rind.

  5. Bring to a gentle boil, semi-covered, over medium-low heat for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Add water as needed if pasta is not fully cooking.

  6. Once pasta is tender, remove from heat and discard the cheese rind. Stir in freshly grated Parmesan.

  7. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.
